Today I found myself thinking about this journey and how it feels day after day. My body felt heavy in a way that made me wonder if I didn't hydrate properly or if I ate something that made my body respond this way. It's funny because every little thing I do at this stage affects my body and how it shows up for me.

I think about the women in my life who had to go through this. I wonder if they felt unsupported or lost like my generation of peers. I wish I could ask them about their emotional state and how it differed from their younger years.

Like my aunt who had four kids and a husband. She was always taking care of someone and I remember her sitting down on her side of the bed looking exhausted with barely enough energy to watch TV. The thing is, she always had a warm smile on her face when I stood in the doorway getting ready to ask for something. I wonder how many times she wanted to scream or tell any one of us to leave her alone, cause I don't have those responsibilities and I definitely do.

No one really told me that I would have this range of emotions. I thought being hormonal meant you were always sad and crying. Tuh... I think about how much we've carried - not just personally, but historically.

I'm learning this season isn't just about hormones, its about inheritance. It's about deciding how we can move with this next generation so they will be prepared and feel supported. How do we make it better for them? What can we leave behind to unburden ourselves and make this journey lighter?

Today I marked this reflection by enjoying a cup of Glow and Flow tea. I held a new mug I bought in my hands. The warmth reminded me that nourishment doesn't have be loud to be powerful.

I'm not the first woman to walk this season, I won't be the last. Tonight, I honor the women behind me, that look out for me. I'm grateful for the woman I'm becoming and that I get to name it in my own voice.
