When My Body Asked Me to Slow Down Before the Season Changed

There are so many things to pay attention to in our lives the one thing we don't even think about is our body. As small children we are aware of everything our body can do and how our body feels. Unfortunately as adults we are not afforded that luxury. Work, kids, never ending laundry and dishes, keeping up with our gym routine, bills, extracurriculars, and on and on, All of this responsibility causes us to be outside of our bodies and we lose that communication with our very first responsibility...our bodies.

I never knew of perimenopause, but it was like my body picked up a hammer and hit me in the head. That's when I noticed everything was different. I noticed my body not functioning the same way. My memory was different, my moods were uncontrollable, I was exhausted all the time. I started therapy again because I thought I had lost my mind. Then I went to the doctor to discuss my symptoms and she confirmed I was in perimenopause. Whew.

There was a sigh of relief and then the more I processed that, I knew I had just started a new journey in life. Reconnecting with my body like a child. Life had come full circle and now I'm exploring my body in reverse, being in tune with how my body isn't working. Not to fix.a problem, but to adjust to how life really is and to adapt to my new journey.

This is apart of evolving as a woman. This is the beautiful journey of what our bodies can do. Now I start learning how to support my body this leg of my race, and I want to walk with you as I do it.
